PANAJI: The Crime Branch has taken up the case of 22-year-old Bashudev Bhandari from Gujarat, who is suspected of drowning after he unintentionally drove a rental automobile into the river at St Estevam, Tiswadi on September 1. The Crime Branch has started an inquiry into the incident.
After Chief Minister Pramod Sawant received a letter from Bashudev’s family, the case was moved from the Old Goa police.
Senior police officers from the Crime Branch team attended the St Estevam ferry port, where the car entered the river, to assess the circumstances.
Prior to this, the police had employed drones along with divers, fire fighters, and coastal police to conduct intensive search operations in an attempt to locate the “missing” individual.
According to the Bhandari family, Bashudev is still missing and has not drowned.
Bashudev was traveling from Sankhali to Panaji on that fateful day with a female acquaintance who was a management college student in Sankhali.
The woman claimed that after an accident at Marcel involving their rental automobile and another car, they were pursued by the other vehicle and fled to St Estevam, where their car ended up in the water.
