New Delhi: A tragic stampede at Haridwar’s Mansa Devi temple on Sunday morning claimed six lives and left several others injured. The incident occurred around 9:30 AM, as panic spread among devotees following rumours of an electric current near the temple stairs.
Eyewitnesses described a sudden surge in the crowd just steps away from the temple premises. One survivor recalled falling along with several others, saying three of his family members were located, while two remained missing. Another injured devotee said he suffered a fractured hand in the chaos.
Around 35 people were rushed to nearby hospitals following the stampede.
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressed deep sorrow over the incident and assured that all necessary relief efforts were underway. He stated that the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), local police, and rescue teams were on site, actively working to manage the situation and provide aid to those affected.
