MORMUGAO: The first cruise ship of the season, Vasco Da Gama, docked at the Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) on Saturday, marking the official start of the cruise tourism season. The international vessel, arriving from Mumbai, brought with it 590 passengers and 416 crew members. Following its stop at MPA, the Vasco Da Gama is scheduled to sail to Cochin port later in the day.
In addition to the international cruise, the domestic cruise liner Empress, carrying 1,300 passengers, also arrived at MPA on Saturday, adding to the excitement.
MPA officials have expressed optimism about a bustling tourism season, with a total of 44 international and domestic cruises expected to call at the port in the coming months. This development is anticipated to give a significant boost to the local tourism and hospitality industry.
