PONDA: It’s now an annual phenomenon that villagers and their school-going children are forced to travel through knee-deep water on the road every monsoon every monsoon. The fifty-meter road stretch at Copper Wada, Curti leading towards Dada Vaidya High School, caved, and further, there is no drainage and gutter system during heavy rain water accumulates and develops into a pond on the road. The villagers want to get rid of the problem for once.
The School going student Anisha and villagers talking to the media said, “we school students are forced to walk through this road up to the knee-deep pond in monsoon. Our dress gets wet while walking through a pond on the road.”
The villagers Ranganath Gaude, Anant Gaude, Shivdas Naik and others said that in every election, politicians promise to solve the problem, but these promises are forgotten after the election.
“This road is a shortcut, and many use it to travel it towards Usgao, Marcel and surrounding industries. We have submitted a memorandum to Panchayat requesting for proper construction of a road with an appropriate gutter system, but the Curti-Khandepar panchayat failed to find a solution,” he said.
The villagers of Copper Wada, Curti urge the government and PWD road division to find solutions to Ponda developed on the road and get them rid of the problem.
