PANAJI: Key leaders of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in Goa have reaffirmed their commitment to the state’s development and raised critical issues concerning migrant identity and alleged corruption in local projects.
AAP leader Shrikrishna Parab stated that his ideology remains consistent, focusing on providing basic amenities to Goans and ensuring meaningful employment opportunities for the youth. “We will make sure BJP remains in opposition,” Parab declared, emphasizing the party’s determination to challenge the ruling establishment.
On the subject of migration, AAP Goa President Amit Palekar questioned the prevailing narrative by referencing the historic contribution of freedom fighter Ram Manohar Lohia in Goa’s liberation movement. “Was Ram Manohar Lohia a migrant? We need to redefine who is a migrant. Anyone working for the betterment of Goa is a Goan,” Palekar said, urging a more inclusive understanding of Goan identity.
Meanwhile, AAP’s Ramrao Wagh alleged corruption in the controversial Prescon housing project, accusing the former sarpanch of receiving a free flat. Wagh questioned whether MLA Viresh Borkar was fully aware of these irregularities and criticized efforts to blame the current sarpanch. In response to the controversy, the RGP withdrew its support from the Azosim-Mandur Panchayat over issues related to the issuance of occupancy certificates for the project.
The developments mark growing political tensions in the state, as AAP intensifies its scrutiny of governance and social issues ahead of upcoming elections.
