PANAJI: The Goa government has informed the High Court that it has, in principle, agreed to relocate the statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj installed on Mormugao Port Authority (MPA) property at Sada.
The statement was made during the hearing of the matter concerning the installation of the statue on MPA land. The government informed the court that the process of identifying a suitable site on government land is underway.
According to the government, two to three potential sites have been identified for the relocation. However, no final decision has been taken so far.
The High Court granted the Goa government time to finalise a suitable site and directed it to place the decision before the court at the next hearing.
The matter has been adjourned to August 25.
