PANAJI: The Akhil Gomantakiya Daivadnya Brahmin Youth Association is set to host the 8th edition of the Daivadnya Cricket Cup 2026 on January 17 and 18 at the S.A.G ground in Fatorda. The annual sporting event continues to grow in scale and inclusivity, bringing together teams from across Goa and strengthening community engagement through sports.
A total of 17 teams will compete in this year’s tournament, reflecting wide participation from different sections of the community. The line-up includes two women’s teams and two teams comprising children, underlining the association’s commitment to promoting cricket across age groups and encouraging greater participation in sports.
The official jersey launch for the tournament was held on Sunday, January 11, at Hotel Cosmique, located on Margao Railway Station Road in Calconda, Margao. The event was attended by key sponsors, team representatives, association members, and media personnel, marking the formal beginning of the tournament celebrations.
The ceremony saw the presence of major sponsors including Swaroop V. S. Raikar Jewellers, Lotlikars Jewellers, Anta Jewellers, Ramakant Jewellers Margao, Damodar Gajanan Raikar and Sons, Adarsh Caterers, and Hotel Cosmique. Representatives from all 17 participating teams, along with the managing committee and members of the association, were also present, lending strong support to the event.
The programme began with a welcome address by Mrs. Seema Vernekar, President of AGDBYA, who highlighted the various social, cultural, and community-oriented initiatives undertaken by the association throughout the year. She emphasized the role of such events in fostering unity, youth development, and social responsibility.
The unveiling of the tournament trophies was carried out by Mrs. Sampada Nagvenkar, Secretary of AGDBYA, and Mr. Rahul Lotlikar, Treasurer of the association, adding to the excitement ahead of the competition. The proceedings for the evening were smoothly compered by Mrs. Sampada Shirodkar, while the formal vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs. Sampada Nagvenkar.
With strong organizational backing and enthusiastic participation, the Daivadnya Cricket Cup 2026 promises to be a vibrant sporting event celebrating talent, teamwork, and community spirit.
