PANAJI: BJP Goa President Damu Naik on Thursday criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for his recent remarks targeting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, describing the comments as “irresponsible” and “deeply disrespectful.”
In a statement, Naik alleged that Gandhi was attempting to draw political attention through negative rhetoric and personal attacks. He said the remarks were inappropriate and harmful to the standards of public discourse.
The BJP leader further claimed that repeated electoral setbacks had pushed the Congress MP towards what he termed “politics of insult and division” in an effort to stay relevant in national politics.
Naik stated that such comments against the country’s top leadership should be condemned and warned that the public was closely observing the nature of political debate in the country.
He also said political leaders should maintain dignity in public life and avoid statements that could create unnecessary division or disrespect democratic institutions.
