CANDOLIM: A Delhi native has been charged by Calangute police with stealing Rs 6.75 lakh from the cash desk of a casino in Candolim.
The Delhi friend and the accused Pankaj Sachdeva would both visit the Candolim casino. They became buddies over time and used to make casino investments together.
The friend put the chips on the cash desk at the casino and went to receive the money at the time of the occurrence. He received a call at the same moment and moved over to use his phone.
Sachdeva allegedly took advantage of this by going to the cash desk and stealing Rs 6.75 lakh after saying that his friend had ordered him to deliver the money. According to reports, he spent Rs 4 lakh on games, pocketed the Rs 2.75 lakh that was left behind, and then departed the casino.
The friend went to the pay counter after the phone call finished, and the employees informed him that Sachdeva had stolen the money. He looked all across the casino, but Sachdeva was not there.
Sachdeva allegedly lost Rs 4 lakh of the money he won in the game and grabbed the rest, according to the results of a check.
The management of the casino complained to the Calangute police after this act was discovered.
Accordingly, the police filed a cheating case against the suspect, and under the direction of Police Inspector Paresh Naik, more research is being carried out.
