THIVIM: A demolition drive commenced today at Lala Ki Basti in Madel, Tivim, where authorities began dismantling more than 22 unauthorized houses and structures constructed on Comunidad land. The move comes in compliance with a High Court order directing the removal of illegal encroachments from the area.
Comunidad attorney overseeing the case confirmed the development, stating, “Demolition has started at Lala Ki Basti in Thivim, with nearly 23 structures set to be demolished.”
The demolition operation was carried out under the supervision of local officials, with heavy police deployment on-site to ensure law and order was maintained throughout the process. No untoward incidents were reported.
The drive is expected to continue over the next few days until all identified encroachments have been cleared. The authorities reiterated that the action is part of a broader effort to reclaim government and community-owned land from illegal occupation in accordance with legal mandates.
Residents in the area were seen vacating premises ahead of the demolition, following prior notices issued by the administration. The operation marks a significant step in enforcing land use regulations and curbing unauthorized constructions across the state.
