VASCO: Vasco Urban Health Centre officers say only two suspected Dengue cases in the month of June were detected. Anti-larval measures and fogging are being carried out in vulnerable areas which are prone to mosquito breeding.
It is good news for Vasco people that this year there are only two Dengue cases that have been detected in the Vasco area. In the last few years, Mormugao taluka has been in the news for the outbreak and rise in the number of Dengue cases. But this year in the month of June there were only two suspected Dengue cases identified by the Vasco Urban Health Centre.
Health officer of Vasco Urban Health Centre Dr. Paresh Lawande said that so far we have identified only two suspected Dengue cases. One case was identified last week and another suspected Dengue case was detected yesterday.
He further said that our staff has taken the anti-larval measures to stop the mosquito breeding at the construction sites. I know that there were some prone areas which were breeding ground for the mosquitoes, we are keeping an eye on these areas. Surprisingly this year the Dengue cases in rural areas have surfaced as compared to urban areas such as Vasco.
When asked more, Dr. Lawande said that it is necessary to keep our surroundings clean. The contractor of any construction site should ensure that anti-larval measures are taken and there should be no mosquito breeding happening at their site.
