CARANZALEM: Tension erupted at a petrol pump in Caranzalem after a disagreement over a fuel payment allegedly escalated into a physical assault involving petrol pump employees and a group of motorcycle riders.
According to sources, the incident occurred when the riders stopped at the fuel station and requested fuel to be filled in one of the motorcycles. After the dispensing machine showed a bill amount of ₹615, one of the riders reportedly questioned the quantity of fuel supplied and refused to accept the reading shown on the machine.
The verbal altercation soon intensified, during which a petrol pump attendant was allegedly assaulted by the group. A supervisor who intervened in an attempt to calm the situation was also reportedly manhandled during the confrontation.
The incident has raised safety concerns among fuel station employees, especially those working late-night shifts. Petrol pump management has reportedly approached the police and sought strict action against the persons involved in the assault.
Police are expected to rely on CCTV footage and witness statements as part of the ongoing inquiry into the incident.
