PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today announced the Manohar Parrikar Yuva Scientist Award has been awarded to Dr Mohit Kumar Jolly from Dept. of Bioengineering, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru who is doing cutting edge research in Cancer treatment.
This was the 2nd edition of this prestigious award. Applications were received from top research institutes across the country, indicating the increasing popularity of the Award.
There were 82 applicants out of which 12 were shortlisted for personal interview and after intense scrutiny by an expert committee headed by Dr. Anil Kakodkar the final recipient was selected.
This award is a one of a kind initiative of the Government of Goa launched to motivate young scientific minds in Goa and across the Country to excel in Science and benefit humanity at a large scale.
The award comprises of 5 lakhs rupees and a citation, which is currently the highest cash prize in science and technology in the country.
The award will be presented at Manohar Parrikar Vigyan Mahotsav at NIO on 13th December 2024 i.e. birth anniversary of the beloved Dr Manohar Parrikar after whom this award has been named.
