PANAJI:
An 80-year-old man with mental instability, who had been reported missing from Goa, tragically died of a heart attack after being brought to the Charkop police station in Mumbai. Officials reported the incident on Monday.
The individual, identified as Rama Gavas, was found wandering near an upscale society in the Charkop area. The local police were alerted by the society’s watchman. Unable to explain his situation, Gavas was taken to the police station for questioning, a law enforcement officer said.
Initially moved to an old age home, Gavas’ disruptive behavior led to him being returned to the police station. A missing person group identified him, confirming his status as missing from Goa. His family was informed, and his son requested that authorities look after him until his arrival. Unfortunately, Gavas succumbed to a heart attack on June 1 before his son could reach Mumbai, according to an official statement.
The police have registered an Accidental Death Report (ADR), and the body has been handed over to Gavas’ family members.
