PANAJI: Director General of Police (DGP) Alok Kumar has issued a strong warning against lawlessness in the “peaceful State.”
Kumar asked visitors to enjoy their vacation in Goa without disturbing the calm, stating that the state has a zero-tolerance attitude against anyone taking matters into their own hands.
“The state of Goa is tranquil. Visitors should respect the beauty and refrain from disturbing it.
“We have zero tolerance for lawlessness,” he warned, adding that the stakeholders should likewise act responsibly.
Following a recent incident in Sangolda where two visitors, Faiz and Arkan Shaikh, attacked a local driver, the warning was issued.
Shortly after the video of the February 6 incident went viral, the tourists were arrested for assaulting the driver with fists and helmets following a collision with the rental bike.
He added that police patrols along Goa’s coastline had been stepped up to keep the peace.
