Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant on Friday said that the Goa Medical College is running full capacity of COVID beds only because everyone wants to get admitted in the GMC only.
Speaking at the launch of home isolation kit, Sawant said, there are there are three more hospitals dedicated you COVID19.
“Three hospitals – ESI Margao, District hospital Margao and SD hospital, Ponda they are 80 p.c capacity. It is clear people want to get admitted only in GMC,” he said.
The chief minister said they have instructed doctors to shift patients to other hospitals as 20 p.c GMC beds need to be kept vacant for emergency patients.
On home isolation, he said more and more people are opting for home isolation.
“As on date, 3500 people are in home isolation and only 600 people in COVID Care Centres,” he said.
He also said the home isolation kits will reduce the load on hospitals further.
“The home isolation kits will have anti-biopics too, besides oximetry etc and that will help to negate virus at initial stage,” he said.
