VASCO: Vasco MLA Krishna Salkar on Friday said that it was extremely vital to impart quality education to the students of Government and Municipal schools in the state
Salkar speaking to reporters after jointly launching the refurbished Municipal School along with Mormugao MLA Sankalp Amonkar in the presence of Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) Chairperson Leo Rodrigues, Chief Officer Jayant Tari, City ward councillor Shami Salkar and the chairman of the MMC school Sub-Committee Yatin Kamurlekar said that he had already taken the initiative of restoring Government schools in Vasco city through CSR funds.
“This is the only Municipal school in Goa that has been in the MMC building for several years and has now been refurbished while restoring the original heritage structure. We have ensured that the students who suffered a lot of inconvenience with leaking roofs and lack of facilities like proper ventilation earlier will now get the best quality education in the refurbished premises,” he said.
“We have taken the restoration of the Government schools in Vasco under CSR activities because the Government schools and Municipal schools have students from the low-income families and lower middle-class sector. We want to impart quality education to all schools, especially the municipal and government schools, and we want to give them smart classes and laboratories etc., on priority to such schools,” he added.
Salkar said CM Dr Pramod Sawant is handling the Education department and will support our call to provide the best quality education to Government and Municipal schools.
“I also want to thank the UD Minister Vishwajeet Rane, who has sanctioned the project of MMC building renovation project and also the Chowgule education Management committee for having given us the premises to shift the municipal school while the renovation of MMC building was taken up,” said Salkar.
City ward councillor Shami Salkar said that it was a matter of pride the Municipal school had always managed to get more than 90 per cent results.
“This is the only school managed by the MMC, and the school has been refurbished today, and we will get better results from now on. We have seen that many students from here have gone on to become eminent persons, and the school comprising of students from the low-rung society, despite the conditions above, have managed to get results above 90 per cent at all times. This refurbished school maintenance is now our responsibility, and we will see better results in the future from this school now,” said Salkar
