SANCOALE: Piedade Andrade Dourado, 45, was sadly killed in an afternoon accident when her Activa scooter, which she was travelling pillion on with her husband and 12-year-old son, collided with a private bus. The incident happened close to Sancoale’s Upasnagar.
The rider Antonio Dourado (54), his wife Piedade, and their son Joy Dourado (12) were identified as the Dourado family, who lived in Shindolem, Sancoale. The family was turning towards Shindolem when they were hit from behind by a private bus (GA06 T 4162), driven by Ramchandra Shinde (40) of Chicalim, as they were riding their Activa scooter (GA06 Q6734).
The accident knocked all three family members onto the road. Despite being sent to a neighbouring hospital with severe injuries, Piedade Dourado was pronounced “brought dead” by medical professionals. Despite their injuries, her husband and son are safe and are presently being treated at the hospital.
Police in Verna have opened an accidental death case, and the bus driver is being held while they do additional investigation.
