PORVORIM: Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho said that the state cabinet granted approval to the Goa Taxi App today.
The file pertaining to the taxi app was placed before the cabinet only after consultation and discussion with the stakeholders.
“Cabinet approves the Goa Taxi App service; tax relaxation for two years to all those taxi operators who join the App,” said Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho.
He further said that more welfare schemes for the drivers and more features to the App have been discussed and approved.
Godinho further said that only taxi operators will be the stakeholders in this app-based taxi service, and the government supports them on a profit, no loss basis.
Minister said that once the taxi app is launched, taxi owners and operators will have to migrate to the App to provide better services to tourists.
He clarified that the state government will not take a single paisa from the app-based taxi service.
He further said that taxi counters will be set up at the Manohar International Airport in Mopa.
“There will be options available; I will solve all issues pertaining to concerns of taxi owners about counters at the airport,” he added.
He added that all taxi operators from Goa will be the stakeholders of the app-based taxi service in the state.
