Health Minister Vishwajit Rane had the last laugh as the health department on Wednesday issued an order replacing Dr Ira Almeida by Dr Deepa Correia as the Superintendant of the Hospicio Hospital, Margao.
“Dr Deepti Correira Afonso, Senior Surgeon at Hospicio Hospital, Margao, shall hold the charge of Medical Superintendent cum Dy Director Hospicio Hospital, Margao in addition to her own duties, thereby relieving Dr Ira Almeida, Senior Pediatrician of her additional charge with immediate effect,” says the order issued by Under Secretary (Health) Trupti Manerkar says
On Tuesday Rane had moved a note to the Chief Minister demanding her removal even as sources said that a senior bureaucrat refused to toe the line.
