PANAJI: Minister for Urban Development Vishwajit Rane said that the firefighting equipments at Sonsoddo site are in operation since November 2023 and regular testing is being done to check the working condition of fire equipments.
“The firefighting equipments at Sonsoddo site are in operation since November 2023. Regular testing is being done to check the working condition of fire equipments,” said Rane
He further said that the utmost care is taken to see that the dry waste is not piled up in the MRF shed, and day to day dry waste is cleared on regular basis.
“Also the firefighting equipments are regularly checked to see that the entire firefighting arrangements are in working condition. Instructions are also given to security deployed at Sonsoddo to keep proper vigil during night time,” he added
He also said that the fire occurred on 24/11/2024 at around 2.30 a.m. to the dry waste which was stacked in MRF shed for disposal. The fire was completely dozed at around 8.30 a.m. on the same day.
“The exact reason for the re-occurrence of fire on 24/11/2024 was not known. The Council suspect the fire occurred due to the deliberate lighting of fire i.e. Arson” he added
Minister also said that in the event of fire incidents 2 nos of baling machines got burnt. Also electric line & fittings were burnt.
