LOUTOLIM: A forensic team will look into a car that was seized in Belagavi after three police officers were suspended in connection with the Loutolim death case.
Jaspal Singh, the Director General of Police, announced on Friday that the car had been transported to Goa.
The DGP stated, “The forensic team will investigate the car to determine the injury marks on the body of the laborer who was crushed to death at Loutolim.”
He declared that the medical report was turned in and that appropriate action would be taken.According to the type of injuries sustained on the body, the case will be filed, Singh stated.
On June 25, at 1.45 in the morning, Maina Curtorim police discovered a body by the side of the road in Loutolim. A preliminary investigation led police to file a hit-and-run case.
A sharp weapon cut on the deceased’s neck discovered during the post-mortem investigation raised the possibility of murder. Three police officers connected to the Ponda police station were suspended on Thursday as a result of additional investigation that followed.
The 32-year-old deceased Kanhaiya Mandal was a native of Bihar and a resident of Ponda, Warkhande.
The victim, a resident of Warkhande, was arrested on the evening of June 24 by the now-suspended police officers in response to a complaint from the community regarding Mandal’s disruptive behavior.
Mandal was detained by the police for almost an hour before being dropped off outside the Ponda police station’s jurisdiction in Loutolim without following the proper protocol.
Early on June 25, Mandal’s body was discovered.
Head constable Ravindra Naik, Ashwin Sawant, and Pritesh Prabhu are among the three suspended police officers. They are all employed by SPCR Panaji (a robot vehicle) and Ponda. They will be subject to disciplinary actions.
