MANDREM: In a shocking incident, the former Mandrem Sarpanch Mahesh Konadkar was attacked by unidentified persons at Akaswada-Mandrem.
Soon after the attack, locals gathered in large numbers outside Health Centre demanding action.
As the controversy over Calangute MLA Michael Lobo’s contesting from Mandre Constituency increased, it is being speculated that five unknown persons suddenly attacked former Sarpanch Mahesh Konadkar. “Do you want Michael?” The former sarpanch was beaten by asking such a question. Currently, Mahesh Konadkar has been admitted to the hospital.
A few days ago, MLA Michael Lobo had made a statement that he would contest the election from Mandre constituency if the people of Calangute cooperated, and this caused some controversy. Former sarpanch Mahesh Konadkar, meanwhile, is likely to have come under attack for supporting Michael Lobo.
Mahesh Konadkar told reporters that on Wednesday around 10 am some unknown people surrounded him and beat him severely with iron bars. “Do you want Michael Lobo?” Such a question attacked the thought. Kanodkar is seriously injured in the attack, his body is turned upside down and he is undergoing treatment.
Calangute MLA Michael Lobo condemned the incident staying that ‘are MLAs of Goa; our constituencies may be different, but that does not mean we will keep quiet. The attack is condemnable. It is very dangerous,” he said
Lobo also said that the the police should conduct a thorough investigation to find out who the culprits were and why they attacked him,”
