TALEIGAO: Panaji Police have registered an attempt to murder case against four persons following a violent assault on a 21-year-old youth at Taleigao late on Monday night.
According to police, complainant Sahil Kuttikar, a resident near Mahalaxmi Temple at Taleigao, alleged that he was attacked on May 12 at around 8.30 pm near a general store close to Asha Mahal in Taleigao.
Police said the accused — Hemant Shirodkar of Chimbel, Eknath Gawas, Raju of Nagali Hills, Dona Paula, and Vamnesh Kuttikar of Odxel — allegedly restrained the complainant and assaulted him using an iron rod and a wooden stick. The complainant reportedly sustained a bleeding head injury in the attack.
The accused are also alleged to have abused the victim with filthy language and threatened him with dire consequences. Police stated that the assault was allegedly linked to previous enmity between the parties.
Based on the complaint and after consultation with senior officers, Panaji Police registered Crime No. 88/2026 under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, including charges related to attempt to murder, assault, criminal intimidation and wrongful restraint.
Further investigation is being carried out by PSI Mahadev Pednekar of Panaji Police Station.
