CANACONA: Sundays special Gramsabha of Gaondongrim village heated up over non-supply of materials obtained under Watershed scheme (Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana) to the village anganwadis, authorizes panchayat body to proceed on indefinite hunger strike after Diwali till the obtained materials are provided to all the village Angawadis of Gaondongrim.
At the special gramsabha held on sunday , gramsabha members took the panchayat body to task questioning the Sarpanch and Secretary why materials obtained under the PMKSY scheme are still not provided and instead why only a handful of items (Chairs and Chairs) are given to only three selective Anganwadis of Ziltawadi, Satorlim and Nanem
Members also raised the issue of non-widening of roads and cutting/clearing of roadside bushes in the village.
Sarpanch Dhillon Dessai stating that the main issue of road is discussed threadbare later informed that tenders for all the village roads are passed to an 10-12 crores of rupees but these works involves only Hot-mix of roads and the same will be done briefly. Dessai informed that the panchayat has submitted proposals with road widening works particularly the road widening of road from Three-Roads to Indrawada, which is very treacherous and accident prone for motorists. But while approving tenders PWD removed the road widening works and approved the other works. We are going to re—submit the proposals for road widening works which are very much essential’.
Speaking in detail about the denial of PMKSY scheme materials to village anganwadis, Dessai informed that it is not a State, but a central scheme and Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant is the Chairman of State Committee. ‘Gaondongrim is the only panchayat selected under this scheme in Canacona taluka we did a survey and points were decided, before that Committee is appointed and Gaondongrim VP Sarpanch is the Chairman with other members. ‘Took resolution that all the anganwadis in the village were to be provided with cupboards, table, Chairs, Sound system, Water filter and already purchased by Agriculture Department from the funds received. Agriculture officers told us that they will obtain/purchase it and it’s been 1 and ½ year, since this material is gathering dust in their offices every time stating they are giving it today and tomorrow. We don’t know whether any politics is involved in it when we complained and villagers threatened to boycott Lok Sabha polls, an agriculture officer informed us that items will be allotted to anganwadis, but after a year some of those items were given to someone else only and only 3 Anganwadis were provided with just Tables and Chairs. ‘If they continue to deny all items to all Anganwadis than now villagers have decided in today’s grams sabha and allowed Panchayat body to sit on hunger after Diwali till these items are allotted to whom it were obtained.;
BDO is also assuring us it will be done, and we had already complained to CM, and also a letter has gone to PMO as well. Even our newly elected MP Viriato Fernandes has assured us to raise this issue in the upcoming parliament session.
Dhillon Dessai also informed that Gaondongrim panchayat funds has increased and using the funds they are carrying out several developmental works in the village including buildings sof Sheds at Kudne, amongst other places. CCTV cameras will be installed at some strategic locations in the village by next week and all the issues raised by people in Sunday grams sabha will be followed up with the government.
