Panaji: While welcoming media fraternity on German Frigate at Mormugao Port and briefing the press Rear Admiral Mr. H. Risch said “We are both democratic countries, share a lot of values and share a lot of interests. Both countries are regionally rooted but globally committed. This is the trigger for closer cooperation between India and Germany, he added.
About deployment of German frigate F- 222 along with A-1412 is currently at Mormugao Port in South Goa Mr. Risch said is a part of its Indo-Pacific deployment. The objective – Germany is strengthening its cooperation with like-minded countries in Asian region.
Mr Risch speaking further said our two nations can become even more important partners in the region as we are committed to the same values. “We had some good exercises, first at the Eastern Naval command and then over the last few days at the western coast. The exercises were executed in a very professional manner. I am very impressed with the spirit of the Indian sailors and their professional knowledge,” Risch said.
Speaking about the joint naval exercise Mr Risc said the aim was to establish friendship and partnership between the two nations and its navies. “We will see future exercises but I cannot speak about any concrete plans at the moment. May be this was something our governments discussed (in New Delhi),” he said with reference to the meeting between Prime Minister ShriNarendra Modi and German Chancellor Shri Olaf Scholz.
Thereafter the press fraternity were taken on a short guided tour of the ship’s key stations.
