CURCHOREM: The Goa Football Association (GFA) will construct a changing cum washing rooms for girls and boys athletes at Figueireido ground, Carriamoddi-Curchorem for which the foundation stone was laid by the Headmaster of Guardian Angel High School, Fr. Jerry Vaz in the presence of local MLA Nilesh Cabral on Monday.
The new facility, designed to serve both girls and boys participating in sports, aims to enhance the experience and comfort of student-athletes. During the ceremony, the headmaster offered blessings for the construction, emphasizing the importance of providing adequate facilities for students.
Speaking on the occasion, Cabral informed that Goa Football Association (GFA) President Caetano Fernandes assured that GFA will contribute to the project, reinforcing its commitment to supporting sports initiatives in the community. “This facility will greatly benefit our students, promoting their participation in sports and fostering a healthier lifestyle,” he stated.
Fr. Vaz thanked the local MLA Cabral and GFA President Fernandes for their initiative as athletes were facing difficulties due to the absence of changing and washing facilities on the ground.
The construction of the changing rooms which is estimated at around Rs. 20 lakhs, is expected to be completed in the next six months.
