CANACONA: The Goa Forward Party (GFP) has constituted its Canacona Block Committee with representation from all six village panchayats and the lone municipality in the constituency. The new committee structure was formally announced at a press briefing held in Canacona on Saturday.
GFP General Secretary (Organisation) Durgadas Kamat, in a press release, stated that the committee was approved by party president Vijay Sardessai. Former Shristhal sarpanch Datta Gaonkar has been appointed as the Block Committee President.
The office bearers of the committee include Vice-President Guru Bandekar, General Secretary Remmy Borges, Treasurer Umesh Tubki, and Joint Secretary Jayesh Naik. The Executive Committee members are Sulesh Pagi, Imtiyaz Shaikh, Surekha Bandekar, Laxman Gaonkar, and Ganesh Dhuri.
In addition, in-charges have been appointed for each panchayat and the municipality:
Canacona Municipality: Ajay Pagi
Agonda Panchayat: Tejan Mudkudkar
Shristhal Panchayat: Dashrath Gaonkar
Gaondongrim Panchayat: Sandesh Velip
Khotigao Panchayat: Sudhakar Velip
Poinguinim Panchayat: Llyod Godinho
Loliem-Polem Panchayat: Seabest Fernandes
The announcement was made during a press conference addressed by GFP leaders Mohandas Lolayekar, Durgadas Kamat, Prashant Naik, and Vikas Bhagat. GFP leaders said the new committee is aimed at strengthening the party’s grassroots presence in the Canacona constituency ahead of future political challenges.
