Panaji: IT Minister Rohan Khaunte unveiled a series of digital initiatives aimed at transforming Goa into a smart, connected, and tech-forward state.
He announced that the government will soon launch the ‘Har Ghar Fiber’ pilot project in Sanquelim, Porvorim, and Bicholim. The initiative aims to enhance digital infrastructure, especially in rural areas, ensuring high-speed internet access for every household.
In a move to enhance public service delivery, Khaunte revealed that an AI-powered chatbot will soon be integrated with the Goa Online portal. “This is the first step towards bringing artificial intelligence into citizen-centric governance,” he said.
Under the ‘One Map Goa’ initiative, the state has consolidated 273 GIS data layers from 32 departments. This integrated mapping platform is expected to improve inter-departmental coordination, urban planning, and decision-making.
Khaunte also announced that Goa will soon establish a Global Capability Center (GCC) Park, designed to attract multinational corporations to set up their centralized hubs in the state. “With the GCC Park, Goa will position itself as a prime destination for knowledge-based industries, backed by robust infrastructure and policy support,” the minister added.
Together, these measures mark a significant step in Goa’s journey toward becoming a digitally empowered, investment-friendly state.
