PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today said that Cabinet has accorded approval to appoint 40 part time staff of ESI as contractual staff.
“Today we have given cabinet nod appoint 40 part-time workers, employed with ESI for last 15-20 years and more as contractual workers,” said Sawant.
Sawant further said that these part time workers have been working for last many many years and now with them as contract staff, their salaries will be increased from 15,000 to 25,000.
Sawant said there were around 3,000-plus contractual employees in government departments and an additional 800-odd in State-owned corporations who were all getting DA increments just like regular government staff, besides leave and other service conditions.
“Government will ensure whatever best facilities can be given to them will be done,” Sawant said.
Sawant in the recently held Assembly session said that Supreme Court verdict has tied the government’s hands in the matter of regularising the services of long-serving contractual employees but added that whatever best facilities and incentives are being provided to them.
