CANACONA: The Tree Plantation programme was conducted by Canacona Block Congress and Jawahar Bal Manch Goa at Mudkud-Betul ward of Agonda village Panchayat in Canacona on Saturday.
The tree plantation was held with the participation of young children of Agonda. Useful plants namely Amla (Gooseberry), Bhaya plant, Kokum plant and Soap plant were planted and distributed to the people who attended the program.
The Goa State Chairperson of Jawahar Bal Manch Mrs.Peligia J. Pires in her interaction with the children explained the importance of trees, the uses of the different medicinal plants, and gave her message to the Children as to how planting more and more trees will benefit the environment.
Earlier Mrs.Pelajia introduced Jawahar Bal Manch and its activities to the Children and their parents.
The Vana Mahotsav programme was attended amongst others besides, the Goa State Chairperson Mrs Pelajia J. Pires, South Goa District Congress Organization Gen.Secretary Gaspar Coutinho, State Co-ordinators- JBM Ms. Ilma de Maria Dias and Gerson D’Souza, Canacona Block Mahila President Mrs Ursula Costa, Agonda Ex-Sarpanch Pramod Phaldessai, ex-CMC Chairperson Mahadev Dessai.
J.B.M. Co-ordinator for Canacona Mrs.Plaza Cardozo was also present for the Tree plantation and distribution program.
