DABOLIM: The Air Intelligence Unit of Goa Customs headed by Y. B. Sahare, Assistant Commissioner of Customs, apprehended an international passenger Navas, Resident of Bilal Nagar, Nellikatta, PO-Nekraje, Kasargod, Kerala–671543, holder of Indian Passport No. T 2013158 who had arrived from Sharjah to Goa by Air Arabia flight No. G9 492 and recovered 11 Nos. of 10 Tola gold bars totally weighing 1276 grams. valued at Rs. 57.75 Lakhs approximately.
The said 11 Nos of 10 Tola gold bars were concealed in the check-in baggage of the passenger. The Gold has been seized under the provisions of the Customs Act, 1962.
The total value of gold seized by Air Intelligence Unit of Goa Customs, in the calendar year 2021, till date is Rupees 2.89 crore approx.
The whole exercise was conducted under the constant support of M.S. Meena, Joint Commissioner of Customs and overall guidance of Soundararajan, Commissioner of Customs, Goa. Further investigation is under progress.
