PANAJI: The Directorate of Food and Drugs has celebrated the Yearly World Food Safety Day on June 07, 2024. The theme for this year’s World Food Safety Day is “Food Safety: prepare for the unexpected”. The theme underlines the importance of being prepared for food safety incidents, no matter how mild or severe they can be. Food Safety requires dedicated efforts from policymakers, food safety authorities, farmers and food business operators, consumers also play an active role.
To celebrate this event, FDA Goa organized a FoSTaC training (Food Safety Training and Certification) which trained over 50 Foods Business Operators holding a Registration Certificate. The training was conducted by D and D Strategic Consulting, which is an FSSAI-approved FoSTaC training company.
The Director FDA Goa, Smt. Jyoti Sardesai, spoke about the importance of food safety on a daily basis to curb the spread of food-borne diseases; and stressed the fact that food safety is a shared responsibility of all the stakeholders, including the consumers. This was followed by the administration of the pledge on food safety and then the FoSTaC training.
