Mapusa:
In the bustling town of Mapusa, Goa, a recent inspection by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) uncovered a series of violations among local food vendors. Led by Designated Officer Richard Noronha, along with Food Safety Officers Amit Mandrekar, Lenin De Sa, and Safia Khan, the FDA team carried out a meticulous examination of food outlets near the Alankar area. The focus was on ensuring these establishments were compliant with the necessary regulations, following reports of unauthorized reopenings.
During the inspection, two specific vendors—M/s Food Adda, operated by Md Ibrahim, and M/s Goltekar Brothers, run by Pawan Goltekar—were found to be operating without adhering to FDA requirements. Consequently, they were directed to immediately cease operations. Each of these vendors was issued a penalty of ₹10,000 under Section 69 of the Food Safety Act, 2006.
Additionally, a base kitchen of a prominent bakery located at Karaswada in Mapusa was also identified as being in an unhygienic state. The bakery was instructed to suspend its operations until proper standards were met. The FDA has reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing strict compliance with food safety regulations, indicating that severe penalties will be imposed on non-compliant establishments.
