MARGAO: Food and Drugs Administration conducted an inspection drive in Salcete on Monday to check for hygienic conditions of manufacturing units of various sweets and Farsan manufacturers.
One of the premises located at Pirni Verna was found operating under unhygienic and unsanitary conditions and was directed to stop. the activities with immediate effect. The Farsan stored in the said premises was also found without any proper FSSAI label declaration.
Further, an Inspection report was served to them directing them to comply with the deficiencies.
During the search operation in other premises located in Borda, Margao Farsan such as chakri, chips, and laddoos were found , labelled as the manufacturing unit which was located at Jeppu, Mangalore was found to be operating with an expired FSSAI license.
All items were disposed of in the interest of public health and were worth approximately Rs. 16500/-.
These drives will continue in view of the approaching festive season. as informed by FDA director Smt Shweta Dessai
