PANAJI: The food and Drugs Administration (FDA) is most likely to cancel the permission of M/s UKIYO Beach Resort Morjim for playing loud music and using flashy lights till late night, thus causing disturbance to the turtle nesting site.
As per information, the said resort has also raised a metallic structure on the beach area, thereby causing disturbance to the turtle nesting site.
Forest department will take stern action against those organising night parties near turtle nesting sites in Morjim in Pernem taluka.
It has been brought to the department’s attention that many parties are being held in Morjim, close to turtle nesting sites, with one such party taking place last night, a mere 100 m away from the site, he said.
The minister added that the department will make a representation as the law requires, and the department will be proactive in taking necessary action to prevent any kind of disturbance to the turtle nesting sites.
“When it comes to environmental conservation and turtle nesting sites, there is a specific provision under the Forest Conservation Act. The forest department and the principal chief conservator of forests have been directed to take appropriate action under the same,” he added.
