PANAJI: The Department of Expenditure under the Ministry of Finance has allotted Rs 19 crore to the Goa government under the PM Gati Shakti Programme for the development of phase IV of the Verna Industrial Estate.
The Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation will undertake the development work of the Verna industrial estate.
Director of Industries Swetika Sachan said the disbursement is part of the ‘Scheme for Special Assistance to the States for Capital Investment for 2022-23’.
She said the funds would be used to construct internal roads, improve power and water supply, and other infrastructure at the industrial estate.
The scheme seeks to assist the States towards developing infrastructure projects which conform to the principles and objectives of the PM’s Gati Shakti Mission.
The Director further said that the State had also sought funding to develop the Latambarcem industrial estate at Bicholim, but due to the current allocation, which is insufficient, the proposal did not take shape.
The workshop witnessed more than 100 participants from Central Ministries/ Departments like the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways, Ministry of Railways, Department of Telecommunications and NITI Aayog, and State Governments of Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Chhattisgarh, and Madhya Pradesh.
The workshop featured discussions on use cases of NMP adoption by central Ministries & State Departments for planning, state logistics policies, Unified Logistics Interface Platform (ULIP), Logistics Ease Across Different States (LEADS), city logistics, and the Project Monitoring Group (PMG) mechanism.
