PANAJI: In addition to the usual amount for October 2024, Goa has also received an advance instalment of Rs 688 crore as part of the tax devolution fund.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi received appreciation from Chief Minister Pramod Sawant for the release of the tax devolution cash.
“We shall be better equipped to drive Goa’s overall progress and growth,” Sawant declared, citing that the fund will greatly augment the state’s existing efforts to speed infrastructure development, strengthen social welfare programs, and undertake different projects.
In a statement released on Thursday, Sawant stated, “I express my heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the timely release of tax devolution funds.”
In addition to the regular instalment that is due in October 2024, the Union government has released an advance instalment of Rs 89,086.50 crore to the state governments as part of the tax devolution package worth Rs 1,78,173 crore.
In light of the approaching holiday season, the advance installment has been made available to the states so they can finance their development and welfare-related expenditures and expedite capital spending.
