PANAJI: In a strategic move to enhance the employability of Goa’s youth, the Government of Goa has partnered with the National Stock Exchange of India (NSE India) to introduce the ‘Student Skilling Program.’ This initiative is designed to equip students with industry-relevant skills in the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sector. The program was announced during the National Science Day celebrations at the Government College of Arts, Science & Commerce in Sankhali.
The event, themed “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat,” highlighted India’s ongoing contributions to scientific innovation, particularly in space exploration, nuclear technology, and artificial intelligence. Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant emphasized the state’s commitment to strengthening STEM education through various initiatives, including CARES and innovation hubs. Dr. Sawant urged the community to embrace a scientific approach, aligning with the vision of “Vikas Bhi, Virasat Bhi,” to pave the way for a “Viksit Goa, Viksit Bharat.”
Eminent scientist Dr. Sharad Kale delivered a talk on “Science in Everyday Life,” underscoring the importance of science in daily life. The ‘Student Skilling Program’ aligns with these broader goals by focusing on practical skills that can enhance the employability of Goa’s youth in the BFSI sector.
