PANAJI: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant has assured to address issues and suggestions raised by the Goa Legislators’ Forum on River Mhadei and the Clean and Green Goa initiative.
Speaking at the Goa Legislators’ Day celebration held at the Secretariat in Porvorim, Sawant further said the government is working on introducing reforms and will make financial provisions to support them.
Dr Sawant further said that the Goa Government would look into the issues and suggestions raised by the Forum such as the issue of River Mhadei, clean and green Goa etc. The Chief Minister informed that the Government is working on introducing reforms, and would be making financial provisions which will aid these reforms.
On the occasion, members of the Vidhan Sabha of the State of Goa (1989-94) were felicitated. The Chief Minister congratulated all of them and thanked them for their contribution to the State of Goa.
The Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly, Ramesh Tawadkar earlier in his address said that the Goa Legislative Forum has underscored the activities of the Forum.
He highlighted the Youth Parliament which is one such initiative held to encourage new leadership. All have a role to play to create a bright future for Goa, he emphasized.
The Leader of the Opposition, Yuri Alemao in his address said that issues such as the River Mhadei diversion, bane of Casinos and how Goa’s image was getting tarnished are critical areas that needed to be voiced and addressed.
Treasurer of Goa’s Legislators’ Forum, Sadanand Malik presented the audited accounts of the Forum for the year 2023-24. At the onset, the Forum condoled the demise of former members and MLAs Francisco Monte Cruz and Suresh Parulekar who passed away last year.
