Panaji: In a bid to strengthen Goa’s startup ecosystem and support small businesses, the state government has decided to legalise and formally register co-working spaces across Goa, creating new opportunities for property owners to lease their premises to startups and technology companies.
The Department of Information Technology, Electronics & Communications (DITE&C) has called for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from property owners to register suitable office spaces under a centralised platform. The initiative aims to link property owners with startups, technology firms, and innovation-driven enterprises operating in the state. The deadline for submitting EOIs is March 10.
According to the tender, property owners can register a wide range of premises, including office spaces, co-working facilities, commercial buildings, villas, independent buildings, plug-and-play startup hubs, and innovation centres. Both leased and rental properties are eligible for inclusion.
Registered properties may be used by startups, IT and tech companies, innovation and R&D enterprises, incubation and acceleration programmes, as well as other government-supported startup initiatives. All listed properties will feature on the official Startup Goa portal, ensuring better visibility and access for the ecosystem.
The scheme is designed to expand workspace availability, speed up the operationalisation of startups, and establish a structured link between property owners and the startup community, while promoting balanced regional growth across the state.
Property owners participating in the registry will benefit from direct exposure to verified startups and technology enterprises, potential long-term leasing arrangements, and recognition within the government-backed startup ecosystem. Eligible applicants must be independent property owners or registered legal entities such as proprietorships, partnerships, LLPs, companies, or societies and trusts, and must hold clear legal title or valid lease rights while complying with building, safety, and regulatory norms.
The move is expected to open new revenue avenues for property owners, formalising a sector that currently operates with several unregistered co-working spaces across Goa.
