PANAJI: Taking serious note of accidents caused due to stray cattle menace on roads, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant today has warned that government schemes of farmers would be discontinued if their cattle bought under govt schemes are found roaming on the streets.
“Government schemes of farmers would be discontinued if their cattle bought under govt schemes are found roaming on the streets. The decision would help reduce road accidents due to stray cattle,” said Sawant after the inauguration of Goshala of Ponda Municipal Council under the Stray Cattle Management scheme today.
The Kamdhenu Scheme was modified last year but the Chief Minister warned that the benefits of the beneficiaries will be stopped if animals procured by them under the scheme are found straying on the streets.
The cattle will be impounded by the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services, he asserted.
