PANAJI: Minister for Cooperation Subhash Shirodkar today announced that government will ensure that no cooperative bank should be bankrupt.
“The government will ensure that no cooperative bank should be bankrupt. We will be adopting various measures like regular audits, checks and inspections to make sure that there is no mismanagement of the money of the depositors,” said Shirodkar
He further said that the department will also ensure that there should not be increase in the Non performing Assets.
Shirodkar also spoke about the challenges facing the cooperative sector, particularly regarding the rising number of non-performing assets (NPAs) in cooperative credit societies.
“With over 2,000 NPA cases, many of which are pending in court, Shirodkar said there was need to strengthen the rules and regulations in the sector to protect public funds,” he added
The minister also said that the Office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies, Government of Goa, will give various category awards on November 18 to recognize outstanding contributions to the cooperative sector.
“The committee identifies and selects individuals and societies for awards and assistance, considering nominations from cooperative societies and individuals associated with the sector,” he added
Speaking further, Shirodkar said that action will be taken after arresting several individuals in job scams, the message is clear,” said Shirodkar
He further said that anyone involved in such scams will be behind bars.
