PANAJI: In a significant recognition of its leadership and innovative governance, the Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Goa-IDC) was bestowed with a prestigious award at the Governance Now West Tech Symposium & Awards 2025, held in Mumbai. The ceremony, which celebrates trailblazers in governance and technology, saw Goa-IDC’s Chairman, Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, receive the esteemed CMD Leadership Award.
This award underscores Shri Lourenco’s exemplary leadership and his pivotal role in driving governance and technological reforms within Goa-IDC. Under his stewardship, the corporation has implemented progressive industrial policies, streamlined processes to enhance the ease of doing business, and fostered an environment conducive to sustainable industrial growth. The award highlights Goa-IDC’s commitment to innovation, operational efficiency, and excellence in governance.
Shri Aleixo Reginaldo Lourenco, Chairman of Goa-IDC, emphasized the corporation’s remarkable achievements, including becoming debt-free in a short span. This financial stability has enabled Goa-IDC to reinvest over ₹100 crore in infrastructure development across various industrial estates in Goa, creating a robust and business-friendly ecosystem. The launch of the OPEN portal, a first-of-its-kind Digital Public Good, has revolutionized industry governance by enhancing transparency, efficiency, and ease of doing business.
Over the last two years, Goa-IDC has undertaken several transformative initiatives. The introduction of the new Goa Industrial Development Corporation (Allotment, Transfer, and Sub-Lease) Regulations 2023 has streamlined processes, reducing delays and increasing transparency. The IDC Connect Program has facilitated direct engagement with industrialists through 26 sessions, addressing grievances and strengthening industry relations. Financial sustainability was achieved through four successful e-Auctions in FY 2022-24. The adoption of GIS-based land surveys using DGPS and LiDAR has eliminated land mutation pendency, significantly improving transparency.
Additionally, initiatives like the COVID-19 Amnesty Scheme and the Goa-IDC Exit Support Scheme have provided crucial assistance to industries in transition. Goa-IDC has also organized workshops on critical topics such as construction clearances, the Online Network for Digital Commerce, and the Industrial Park Rating System, equipping industries with valuable knowledge and tools. The corporation has also adopted infrastructure advancements, including the pioneering use of White Topping technology for industrial roads, ensuring durability and cost-effectiveness.
