Panaji: The Department of Information Technology, Electronics and Communications (DITE&C), Government of Goa, held the 11th Empowered Committee Meeting at Mantralaya in Porvorim to review applications submitted under the Seed Capital Grant Scheme of the Goa Startup Policy 2025.
The meeting brought together key policymakers, industry representatives and government officials to evaluate startups seeking financial assistance to scale their businesses and accelerate growth.
A total of 26 applications were received under the Seed Capital Grant Scheme and were initially examined by an Expert Committee. Following a detailed assessment process, 15 startups were recommended for consideration by the Empowered Committee.
The shortlisted ventures represented a diverse range of sectors including artificial intelligence, health technology, product development, media technology, content creation and food and beverages. Their proposals were evaluated on several parameters such as innovation, feasibility, scalability, business model and long term sustainability.
Highlighting the state’s rapidly evolving entrepreneurial ecosystem, Goa’s leadership emphasised that the Seed Capital Grant Scheme is aimed at reducing financial barriers for early stage startups, allowing founders to focus on product development and business expansion. The initiative also reflects the state’s ambition to position Goa as a leading destination for innovation driven enterprises.
Under the Goa Startup Policy 2025, eligible startups with a developed Minimum Viable Product can receive one time financial assistance of up to Rs 10 lakh to support their growth journey.
In addition to startup funding, grants of Rs 10 lakh each were presented to four educational institutions for the establishment of incubation centres. The move is expected to strengthen startup support infrastructure and encourage entrepreneurship among students and young innovators.
The increasing number of applications under the scheme highlights Goa’s emergence as a promising innovation hub, supported by focused policies, mentorship opportunities and access to early stage funding.
