PANAJI: WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar said that Goa is on strong foot in regards to Mhadei case.
“Let Karnataka ministers meet anyone over Mhadei, we are on strong foot, we don’t have to worry. The matter is sub judice,” said Shirodkar
Union Ministers Bhupender Yadav and Pralhad Joshi met with Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Wednesday to talk about the pressing need to approve important water projects in the state.
Shivakumar, who is also in charge of the state’s irrigation ministry, emphasized how crucial it is to move quickly to complete the Mekedatu Project in order to guarantee the state’s water supply is sustainable.
In order to address the region’s increasing water scarcity problems, he further emphasized the importance of obtaining prompt clearances for the Kalasa-Banduri Nala Projects.
Shivakumar appealed for a prompt settlement of environmental clearances for the Kalasa-Banduri irrigation project during his meeting with Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav.
The Mahadayi Water Dispute between Karnataka, Goa, and Maharashtra has caused challenges for this project, which attempts to transfer water to Karnataka’s parched districts.
He claimed that the state had made concessions by lowering the amount of land needed for the projects, reducing the Banduri project’s footprint from 243 hectares to 28.44 hectares and the Kalasa project’s footprint from 258 hectares to just 26.92 hectares.
