BAMBOLIM: Goa Medical College (GMC) today has doubled intake for physiotherapy to 20 seats.
“Goa Medical College (GMC) is expanding opportunities with a 100% increase in physiotherapy seats, doubling the intake from 10 to 20,” said Health Minister Vishwajit Rane
He further said that this expansion reflects our commitment to strengthening healthcare education and empowering future healthcare professionals in Goa.
“With this increased capacity, more students can pursue their passion for physiotherapy and contribute to holistic patient care in the state,” he added
Goa Medical College (GMC) is thinking of launching two new post-graduate programs in psychiatric medicine and oncology, and it will shortly request approval from Goa University.
According to Bandekar, the institution’s reputation would be further enhanced after the legalities are finished and the PG course is introduced.
Additionally, Bandekar discussed the State’s top medical school’s intentions to launch a specially created postgraduate program in general medicine, which will contribute to reviving the dwindling practice of “family physicians.”
Reviving the custom is necessary, he said, as it lessens the strain on the tertiary healthcare system when people are compelled to go straight to hospitals for even mild illnesses that would have been diagnosed and treated by the “family physician” otherwise.
