PANAJI: Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that Goa aims to establish itself as a top choice for travellers worldwide, emphasising its exceptional offerings and encouraging visitors to explore this rich history and culture.
Khaunte was addressing the gathering at the 4th G20 Tourism Working Group Meeting.
“Goa aims to establish itself as a top choice for travellers worldwide, emphasizing its exceptional offerings and encouraging visitors to explore this rich history and culture,” said Khaunte.
He further said that Goa also plans to expand its tourism offerings by promoting lesser-explored areas like spirituality, health and wellness, eco-tourism, and traditional aspects.
“Goa aims to implement long-term branding and awareness campaigns that highlight local events and hinterland,” he added.
Khaunte said that the Government of Goa and the Government of Uttarakhand have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance the tourism landscape of both Goa and Uttarakhand.
“The MoU signed between Goa and Uttarakhand aims to promote bilateral cooperation in the travel and tourism sector and facilitate travel between the states. It is aimed to increase the number of tourists visiting Goa and Uttarakhand, respectively,” he said.
He said the state government wants to promote temples in Goa amongst tourists.
“Promoting state tourism is part of PM’s ‘Dekho Apna Desh’ initiative,” he added.
He said Goa is expecting a footfall of tourists even during monsoon thanks to the promotion of Goa in countries like the UAE.
“Goa is a holiday destination throughout the year. There is nothing called the end of tourist season in the state,” the minister said.
