PANAJI: The Panaji Police have registered a case against a police constable for allegedly securing government employment using a forged birth certificate during recruitment for the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB).
As per the complaint filed by Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Dharmesh G. P. Angle, the offence was registered on November 6, 2025, at 4:13 p.m., vide Panaji Police Station Crime No. 153/2025 under Sections 336(3), 340(2), and 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), 2023.
Investigations revealed that the accused, identified as Aroon Salman Yeddanapudi, a resident of House No. 126, Kirlawada, Bus Stand, Chimbel, Tiswadi, had allegedly forged a birth certificate bearing number B-2024:9 90347-007260, dated November 24, 1997, purportedly issued by the Registrar of Births and Deaths, Government General Hospital, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh.
Yeddanapudi is accused of dishonestly producing the forged certificate as genuine before the Goa Police Department at PHQ, Panaji, during recruitment for the post of Police Constable (Armed Police) under the Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB). Based on the forged document, he allegedly secured the job through appointment order No. CS-I(DR)/D-306/IRB(1/2/3)/PC(AP)/Vol.II/2024/10569, dated September 26, 2024.
Police said the act amounted to cheating the Government of Goa by deceitful means.
