PANAJI: Goa Tourism is poised for a major transformation in 2026, with the sector set to become increasingly technology-driven to enhance accessibility, accountability and transparency across the tourism industry.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said that while Goa will continue to strengthen its globally recognised USP of sun, sand and sea, the state is also making a decisive shift towards health and wellness tourism as well as spiritual tourism.
“The year 2026 will see Goa Tourism evolving into a technology-driven ecosystem that improves accessibility, accountability and transparency. At the same time, we are diversifying into health and wellness tourism and spiritual tourism to offer more meaningful experiences to visitors,” Khaunte said.
He said the initiatives are being led under the guidance of Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant, who has championed diversification of tourism beyond traditional leisure travel. As part of this vision, new temple circuits have been identified under the Ekadash Teertha Scheme, aimed at promoting spiritual tourism in the state.
“These temple circuits under the Ekadash Teertha Scheme will encourage tourists to explore Goa’s rich spiritual and cultural heritage, while also integrating wellness and mindful travel experiences,” the Tourism Minister added.
Khaunte noted that the adoption of technology-driven solutions will also help ensure better governance in the tourism sector, improve service delivery and promote sustainable tourism practices. He said the diversification into wellness and spiritual tourism will help decongest popular destinations, extend tourist stays and generate wider economic benefits for local communities.
